Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you. (2 Tim 1:14)
During my quiet with the Lord this morning, my devotions had me read (2 Timothy 1:14), and as I read, I was reminded of the time when I took our two Grandkids (Parker and Cami) into the Dollar General before getting on the bus for school. A nice elderly lady approached our Granddaughter. The lady asked her if she would like a dollar in return for a hug; our Granddaughter’s response was a polite, “no, thank you. I am sure this elderly lady’s intentions were meant good, but in this day in age (it is unfortunate), our kids and we as adults must be conscientious of what we say yes to, don’t we? After returning to the car, I reassured our Granddaughter that her decision to say no thank you was the polite thing to do. She then responded to me with a question, “Boppy, do you know why I said no? I said, “no, why? Her answer was, “I listened to God.
I believe the voice our Granddaughter’ was referring to was the voice of the Holy Spirit in her. She could not have listened and done what she desired or heard (as she did) and made the safe decision.
Friends, are you being faced with a decision today? I believe we should always call upon the Lord before making any decision. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Are you intently seeking to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit as you reason through any decisions you must make today or any day? Would you Pray with me?
O Lord, my God, help me to trust You with my decisions and my future. Let me lean on You with all my heart instead of relying on my imperfect understanding. Give me clear guidance in my life, Lord. As I submit myself to You, I know that You will direct my paths, and I can have confidence that Your direction is always the best way to go. Hear my prayer, Father. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
God Bless and have a Blessed Day, Friends <><
